Truschelli Announces Candidacy for State Representative in the 12th Plymouth District

Plymouth-Joe Truschelli announced today that he will seek the Republican nomination for the 12th Plymouth District. After collecting over 400 raw signatures in less than two weeks, town clerks have certified more than the 150 signatures needed to qualify Truschelli to be on the ballot for the September 4th primary.

Truschelli, a resident of Plymouth for over a decade, lives with his wife (Lee) of ten years, their sons Joey (9), Thomas (7), and Brody (4), and their dog, Tahoe. Both Joe and his wife are active in Plymouth’s local government, Joe as a town meeting representative and Lee as a member of the Plymouth School Committee.

Joe is an Iraq War Veteran, currently serving in the United States Air Force Air National Guard. After 16 years enlisted in aircraft maintenance and aircraft maintenance operations, he was commissioned as a Public Affairs Officer to the Massachusetts National Guard Joint Force Headquarters. Here he is responsible for developing strategic goals and statewide communications plans for the Guard.

Additionally, Joe has served under the Baker Administration in the Department of Veterans’ Services. His responsibilities included leading the agency’s communications, intergovernmental relations, and outreach services, including the Statewide Advocacy for Veteran Empowerment and the Woman’s Veteran Network.

“It truly would be an honor to serve as your next State Representative. I look forward to working on the issues that matter most to our district, from combatting the opioid epidemic to ensuring that we continue to lead the nation in taking care of our veterans,” stated Joe Truschelli. “Serving in the current administration, I actively participate in common sense reforms to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of our state government. I will bring this experience to Beacon Hill on behalf of our district.

Prior to joining the administration, he served Plymouth County as a Deputy Sheriff and a reintegration advocate, where he worked with our incarcerated population to connect them to the services necessary to address substance abuse, violence prevention, and homelessness services. Joe specialized in working with the veteran population, helping them connect with state and federal resources including mental health services, employment opportunities, and VA health benefits.

Joe will place an emphasis on supporting the economic growth of our local economy, combatting the opioid epidemic, and bringing back much-needed local aid to protect the vital services our communities provide to their residents.
“Experience matters, I’ve worked with both the executive branch and legislative branch on many issues impacting our communities and have seen great ideas come from both sides of the aisle. I will work collaboratively to accomplish common goals and bring critical state dollars to our district,” said Joe Truschelli. “As a legislator, I will bring a fresh perspective and an innovative approach to the issues our community faces.”

The 12th Plymouth District legislative seat, previously held by Rep.Tom Calter (Kingston), is comprised of six communities including all of Kingston, Halifax, Plympton, precinct one in Middleboro and Duxbury, and precincts one, eleven, and thirteen in Plymouth.
